Milky Way Galaxy and its much larger neighbour Andromeda Galaxy are hurtling through space on a collision course. In about 5 billion years from now, just as our Sun is in the last stages of its life, our galaxy will collide with Andromeda Galaxy.
The collision will throw thousands of stars out of galaxy and into space. The stars that manage to stay together from both the galaxies will eventually form a much larger elliptical galaxy.
The satellite galaxy, Triangulum will manage to stay largely intact and continue to orbit the new merged galaxy.
